New members over 55 years of age are always welcome at Pamela's Yoga Group at Broad Street Methodist Church, Ludlow
The Yoga for Health Foundation (now The Yoga for Health and Education Trust)In 1981 I went to stay at the Yoga for Health Foundation at Ickwell Bury with my sister Diana. This beautiful place provided a wonderful caring space for many who needed calm and healing. Many miracles were wrought as people with chronic and life threatening diseases came to stay, and found the calming yoga breath allowed them more control over their bodies and minds, and that their spirits could soar above their physical difficulties. We all learnt so much from each other in what was a truly sacred place. Our visionary director, Howard Kent taught us so much yoga wisdom and brought many Yogis and Gurus from around the world to teach us. Howard did much to promote the concept of ‘Yoga for All’ in Britain and worldwide.
In 1984 I joined the General Training Scheme at the Yoga for Health Foundation and passed the examination to qualify as a yoga teacher. My training combined residential with distance learning. At this time my job took me abroad and gave me the opportunity of learning Tai Chi at early morning classes in Hong Kong, on the roof of the YMCA building. Following Howard's death in 2006 and the loss of Ickwell Bury to building developers, The Foundation has had to make changes. Under new Trustees, the Foundation has moved forward to become The Yoga for Health and Education Trust. You can read about the Trusts vision on their Website www.yoga4het.co.uk |
